Edinburgh residents don their wellies and take to the water
More than 300 volunteers are expected to clean up Edinburgh’s Water of Leith this month.
City residents are being encouraged into their wellies and down to the river banks in a bid to improve the river for wildlife and recreation. The water is clean enough to support a range of wildlife including kingfishers and otters, but it is blighted by thoughtless dumping of shopping trolleys, tyres, cones, bikes, etc.
Children (accompanied) and adults are all welcome. The next scheduled clean-up is on Sunday April 26th, meeting at Bell’s Mill Weir, near the Gallery of Modern Art, at 10am. Please wear old clothes and wellies.
